Doula support thatβs real, grounded, and rooted in trust
Thereβs information overload one minute, and random anxiety popping up the next. The internet is a mix of helpful and horrifying, and somehow you're supposed to figure out whatβs actually true. Meanwhile, everyone keeps telling you to βtrust your instincts,β but nobody's telling you how.
And whereβs the βvillageβ?
This work is about showing up for you in a way thatβs real, grounded, and rooted in trust. Like your friendβif your friend just happened to be a doula who knows the evidence on birth care and can coach you through contractions. I bring practical tools, calm presence, and honest support to help you feel informed and confidentβnot more overwhelmed.
You donβt need a checklist of shoulds. You need space to tune into whatβs right for you.
Letβs build that kind of support system, together.
Preparing for birth & navigating motherhood is WILD
This is how I show up for you.
Autonomy Above All: Every birth is personal. I center your voice, your preferences, and your lived experiences β so your care reflects what matters most to you.
Evidence-Based Information: Iβm committed to sharing current, well-vetted, and up-to-date information β not just opinions or trendsβ so you can make confident choices that are truly informed.
Wholehearted, Individualized Care: Your path is uniquely yours. From epidurals to unmedicated births, breastfeeding to formula, Iβm here to support you fully β with presence, respect, and care that meets you where you are.
Community-Led Impact: Through my Community Birth Support Program, free stroller walks, and inclusive prenatal yoga classes, Iβm expanding access to care and connection β helping rebuild the village around birth and closing the equity gap in maternal health so no one walks this journey alone.
Real Connection: This isnβt just a service β itβs a relationship built on trust, honesty, and showing up for you fully. Iβm here as your steady support and go-to person, bringing real talk, deep care, and calm confidence to every step of your journey.
Helping foster a positive birth experience for moms who want to feel empowered
Real, personalized support thatβs grounded in evidence, rooted in trust, and with you every step of the wayβso you feel informed, respected, and never alone.
Thatβs me,
Danielle Stephan
Loudoun County Birth Doula, Prenatal & Perinatal Yoga Instructor
I believe every family deserves the kind of care that improves outcomes and transforms experiences β not just those who can afford it. Thatβs why I provide evidence-based, wraparound support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, meeting each family with presence, respect, and advocacy at every step. My care goes beyond the birth itself, with prenatal guidance, hands-on support during labor, and continued visits in postpartum β because this journey deserves continuity.
My work goes beyond individual care; itβs about building a more inclusive, more supported maternal health ecosystem right here in our community. Through free events, community programs, and a deep commitment to equity, I work to make this kind of support accessible to more families, so no one has to navigate it alone.

Beyond the birth room: A peek into who I am
First birth I ever attended:
The birth of my niece! I was supporting my sister, alongside my mom (sheβs the best co-doula!) and brother-in-law. Iβll never forget it!
On my Costco list:
Kombucha, dark chocolate, twice the amount of sandwich bread that youβd think we need, and allllll the fruit (kids and fruit, ya know?!). Also, Iβm getting a hot dog on the way out.
How I take my coffee:
Crazy enough, decaf - with cream. I save the real stuff for when itβs really needed, like overnight births- or getting through the next day at home with my kids.
When Iβm not doula-ing, youβll find me:
With my kids! Two of βem, born 2021 and 2024 - we love going on hikes, to the library, and playgrounds!
On my playlist:
Podcasts: Evidence-Based Birth, Conan OβBrien Needs a Friend, The Moth, Tara Brach, and Bluey Storytime (because most of the time Iβm not just in the car alone)
Music: Greensky Bluegrass, The Chicks, Taylor Swift, The Beatles, RHCP,
One thing I always bring to a birth:
Snacks! Mostly for myself and the birth partner, but I also always bring instant bone broth and honey for laboring moms, too. I also love my galaxy light, essential oils, and tens unit.
My favorite part of postpartum visits is:
When mom texts me afterwards for the recipe of the postpartum brownies I just left with her.
Kidding - but everyone does love those brownies and pretty much everyone asks for the recipe.
I love hearing about the highs and lows of early motherhood, processing the birth together, and hearing about what moms have learned about themselves through those experiences.
What got me into birthwork:
The maternal health statistics - cesareans, inductions, maternal mortality, maternal mental health, and birth trauma - in the United States. The numbers are just too darn high! We can do better and we know that doulas help achieve better results.
